Tuesdays With NSSE

NSSE is hosting a series of free, live, interactive Webinars to be held on several Tuesdays from 3-4 pm Eastern Time over the next year. The first Webinar will take place on Tues., March 4, 2008. We hope you will join us to learn more about how NSSE results can be used in institutional assessment and planning. We also suggest a group viewing to facilitate cross-campus conversations about using NSSE and as a convenient way to participate with your colleagues. A more detailed description, agenda, and registration information will be posted on the NSSE Web site approximately three weeks in advance of each session. All sessions will be recorded and available on the NSSE Web site at http://nsse.iub.edu/webinars/archives.cfm.

Tues., Aug. 19 Your Institutional Report - Todd Chamberlain
How to begin using your Institutional Report, thinking ahead to the next admin and making changes based on post hoc analysis plans.
Tues., Sept. 9 Using FSSE and NSSE Data: An Overview of Existing Tools and Reports - Amy Garver
This webinar will provide an overview of existing tools and reports available for users to present their FSSE and NSSE results in combination. In particular, this session will highlight ways to reproduce commonly used illustrations and to compare those findings to national trends.
Tues., Sept. 23 Using Your BCSSE-NSSE Data - Jim Cole
Webinar is intended for those institutions that want to learn more about how to effectively use their BCSSE/NSSE data. This Webinar is not intended to cover the basics of BCSEE and NSSE. Instead, participants should already have some understanding or knowledge of the BCSSE and NSSE projects.
Tues., Oct. 21 Multi-Year Analysis of NSSE Data - Shimon Sarraf and Daniel Chen
As more and more institutions collect multiple years of NSSE data, demand has increased for learning how to assess changes in institutional performance. This session is intended to address related issues, including: NSSE survey changes that have an impact on multi-year analyses; appropriate longitudinal analyses using engagement data; different approaches for analyzing the data; instructions and tools for creating the data set; and different ways to represent multi-year data in reports and visual presentations.
Tues., Nov. 18 The Transparency-Accountability Puzzle: Where Does NSSE Fit? - Alex McCormick
Transparency and accountability are in the air - and the news. The Spellings Commission called for more of both, and AASCU's and NASULGC's Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA) and NAICU's University and College Accountability Network (U-CAN) have created mechanisms for colleges and universities to report a wide range of information using standard templates. In addition, both USA TODAY and US News and World Report have invited NSSE participants to share selected results. In what ways can NSSE results respond to demands for transparency and accountability? What are the arguments for and against making NSSE results public? Are there ways in which reporting institution-level summaries can divert attention from important considerations of educational quality? Join NSSE's new director for a discussion of these important questions.
