BCSSE 2007 Was A Great Success!

BCSSE was officially launched in 2007 after three years of extensive pilot testing. During the summer months of 2007, 126 institutions across the United States and Canada distributed the survey to more than 100,000 first-year college students.

BCSSE 2007 Facts

• 123 participating colleges and universities in 34 states and 3 Canadian institutions
• Entering first-year class size at these institutions ranged from 120 to over 7000
• Two thirds of participating schools (68%) used the paper version and 32% the Web.
• Approximately one third of participating US BCSSE institutions is private.
• A large majority of BCSSE schools is either a baccalaureate (35%) or a master’s institution (44%).

NSSE, FSSE and LSSSE 2008 survey administrations are live

Invitations for the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE) began March 18 for a small group of institutions, with the bulk scheduled to start in the next two weeks. About 55,000 undergraduate faculty from 160 institutions will be invited to participate in the spring 2008 administration.

Most of the more than 1.5 million undergraduate students at 774 schools have already been contacted several times over the past two months about completing The College Student Report. Survey administration at most participating institutions will be completed by the end of April, but the survey will remain open until June 1.

The Law School Survey of Student Engagement (LSSSE) also launched in late March with 85 participating schools.
