NSSE & FSSE 2009 Survey Administration Timeline


2009

Early June

  • Registration opens for NSSE and FSSE 2010 (deadline is 9/17/09)

July

  • Consultation begins with institutions about how to prepare for NSSE & FSSE 2010

August

  • Registration reviewed for approval by NSSE Client Services teams
  • Consortia for NSSE 2010 begin to form
  • Survey recruitment messages for NSSE: Institutions begin the process to customize messages sent to students

September

  • Consortia registration for institutions begins 9/5
  • Registration deadline for NSSE and FSSE 2010 is 9/17
  • Survey recruitment messages for NSSE due by 9/28 for most institutions

October

  • Survey recruitment messages for FSSE: Institutions begin the process to customize messages sent to faculty
  • Consortium questions due to NSSE Consortium Manager by 10/1
  • NSSE population file submission and oversample instruction deadline is 10/29
  • Deadline for NSSE institutions to finalize survey materials is 10/29:
    • For all institutions: customized recruitment messages
    • For all NSSE institutions: Academic Calendars
    • For all NSSE institutions: image to display on Web survey
    • For paper mode administrations: letterhead, electronic signature

November

  • Consortium membership must be confirmed by 11/3
  • NSSE population file review sampling begins and continues for approved population files through mid-December

December

  • FSSE recruiting message customization, survey choice, and sample uploads due by 12/5
  • NSSE samples drawn from approved populations by mid-December
  • NSSE population file questions must be resolved by 12/17

2010

January

  • Ineligible student list uploads due by 1/15 in order to receive a replacement sample
  • Test messages are sent to NSSE institutions to test spam filters, etc.
  • NSSE survey administration starts in late January for some institutions

February

  • NSSE survey invitation messages for most institutions are sent by early February
  • Special local administration surveys are sent to institutions in mid-February
  • FSSE materials processing concludes by late February
  • Test messages are sent to FSSE institutions to test spam filters, etc.

March-April

  • Ineligible student list uploads due by 3/4 (without replacement sample)
  • Web administration of FSSE begins in mid-March
  • Final NSSE survey reminders are sent to most students by the end of April

May

  • Final FSSE survey reminders are sent to faculty by the end of May

June - July

  • NSSE and FSSE survey administration closes 6/1
  • Analysis of NSSE & FSSE 2010 data
  • Preparation of NSSE & FSSE Institutional Report 2010

August

  • Institutional Report 2010 sent to institutions
