Sample Institutional Report
The Institutional Report—thoroughly redesigned to accompany the update to the NSSE survey—includes several standard reports, an overview of the data, and many supporting resources sent to participating colleges and universities. With extensive use of color and graphics, the new reports are designed to be shared widely.
The Institutional Report is delivered in August of the administration year and the Major Field Report is delivered in the fall. The Institutional Report is available in a binder, electronically via the secure Institution Interface, and in the Online Institutional Report (new as of 2013).
NSSE Standard Report Samples
Below are samples from the Institutional Report featuring results for a fictional institution—NSSEville State University—created by combining actual results for two participating institutions. Samples for FSSE and BCSSE participants are also displayed.
Several NSSE reports were new or redesigned for the updated survey. The Snapshot provides a concise and easy-to-digest summary of key results, with further details provided in the Engagement Indicators and High-Impact Practices reports, which replace the former NSSE Benchmarks of Effective Educational Practice. Item-by-item frequency distributions and mean comparisons are now provided side by side in the downloadable Frequencies and Statistical Comparisons report. Other materials include sample data files, codebooks, survey overviews, Accreditation Toolkits, Webinars, and the Guide to Online Resources—all designed to assist in the interpretation, dissemination, and use of NSSE results.
Data Files and CodebooksNSSE returns the raw data with student identifiers to institutions for additional analysis and merging with other school records. Data are delivered in SPSS format, or other formats upon request. The codebooks detail all variables in the data.
